Three vagabond performers stagger, stumble, tumble, slip and slide their way through the world.
Whoops! is a journey into a world of merry missteps. We are transported into a dream, where anything can happen, and does: doors dance, furniture moves, drawings come to life, and rabbits sing you to sleep. Three itinerant artists stumble, stagger, tumble, and slip their way through time and space. The madness and fun grow and grow. Almost a shame to wake up again…
Arthur Rosenfeld’s newest dance performance features three young performers with multiple talents. They dance, sing, draw and create illusions in a festive mix of slapstick, music and magic.
Choreographer Arthur Rosenfeld about Whoops!
“I know all about slapstick because I’ve always been a clumsy guy. So I thought it would be fun to show how charming that can be, and how it might even work to your advantage. And how much fun life can be when you have no idea what will happen next. I think kids automatically appreciate that.”
The toddlers laughed and laughed all the way through the dance performance Whoops!; uncontrollable, unstoppable laughter. (…) Choreographer Arthur Rosenfeld has passed 60, but still has a perfect understanding of kids. He has slapstick in his genes. (…) Their favourite part of Whoops! is the magic. From there Imagination takes over… funny and inventive.”
Mirjam van der Linden, Volkskrant
“(…) Compact slapstick scenes and humorous bits of illusion that Rosenfeld knows how to use for maximum effect and surprise. (…) It creates a delicious sense of wonder in the young audience, who soon afterwards are overwhelmed by a show of virtuoso breakdance moves.”
Charlotte Schultz, Theaterkrant
“The choreographer has found a perfect mix, and knows how to hit all the right chords with the children. The artists remain completely concentrated throughout, and through brilliant mimicry and subtle interaction they keep a constant grip on the children’s attention (…) Highly recommended. I never realized that mistakes could be such fun.”
