IN SHORT: Double Tap Trap is an interactive and explosive performance about young people living in a world full of social media that pressures them to always show their most perfect self. Beneath the shine, questions arise about identity, group pressure and "what is the truth".
In a dystopian world, where everything revolves around being seen, a group of young people love to draw attention. They’re slick, popular, with the most beautiful voices and best skills. In a montage of scenes, they always show their best side – all for the double tap (the digital "like"). But what lies beneath the shine? What is truth, and what is illusion?
Double Tap Trap is an interactive, explosive performance about identity, peer pressure, and the irresistible attraction of social media. How long can you keep up the perfect version of yourself? And what happens when you stop scrolling – and start looking?
Maas theater and dance and Rotterdam Street Culture Week bring together theater, sports, and street arts in a powerful mix. For everyone aged 12 and up.
This performance is Dutch spoken, with some English scenes.
Double Tap Trap bursts with energy.
A performance that must be seen – by everyone.
The explosive rhythm of breakdance and freerunning may be about something small (how big is the tiny screen of a mobile phone, after all?), yet at the same time it feels all-encompassing.
I remain constantly engaged, as so many layers of the story are revealed in such a short time.

About Rajiv Bhagwanbali
Choreographer Rajiv Bhagwanbali grew up in a traditional Hindu family. It seemed his destiny to become a priest, just like his father. Within his community, he was shaped by religion and spirituality, following the path that was expected of him. But things changed when he came into contact with hip-hop. He felt welcome, surrounded by people who were all different from him. What he had learned at home about compassion, he experienced there. Suddenly, he found himself caught between two worlds, had to choose, and decided to follow his own path. He began as a dancer within the hip-hop scene and has since grown into a host and presenter on national television. His own story forms the inspiration for this performance.
