Indirah Tauwnaar
Indirah Tauwnaar is a multidisciplinary creator, writer, storyteller, and community builder with a deeply rooted mission: to create space for inclusion, expression, and cultural autonomy within The Culture. Through her artistic practice, she works at the intersection of gospel, urban arts, and social engagement. Her performances and texts are infused with resilience, hope, and connection, sparking change and collective awareness.
As an artistic leader, she combines dance, music, spoken word, and visual media into powerful, layered experiences. In her role as initiator and coach, she builds sustainable platforms where young makers can develop and amplify their voices. Her approach is inclusive, connective, and focused on co-creation and continuous growth.
Indirah knows the power of grassroots movements from within and works from the belief that policy, artistic leadership, and community development can go hand in hand. Her work in urban contexts such as Rotterdam, and her genuine commitment to cities, is fueled by both personal roots and a strategic vision of cultural growth.
In her writing, including the book Tribalism Semantics (TS8), she explores the relationship between faith, culture, and social justice. She inspires others to welcome new perspectives with openness and empathy, and to build bridges between communities that are still too often underrepresented in established cultural infrastructures.
