Audition call: TALK TO ME
Cecilia Moisio Company and Maas theater en dans are looking for versatile dance artists (f/m/x) with a strong physical presence and a curiosity for interdisciplinary performance, who are excited about performing and interacting with young audiences for the upcoming co-production TALK TO ME (12+), premiering in Fall 2027.
We are searching for versatile dance artists with a strong physical presence and a curiosity for interdisciplinary performance. The work requires performers who are capable of:
● Virtuosic movement language and strong technical ability
● Emotional depth and expressive performance
● Acting and character work
● Singing and vocal expression
We are especially interested in performers who move fluidly between dance, theatre, and voice, and who enjoy collaborative and process-oriented creation. The candidates may also be eligible for other pieces made by Cecilia Moisio.
About the Piece
TALK TO ME is a physical and musical youth performance about the voice in your head and the power to rewrite it.
This new multidisciplinary production by Cecilia Moisio explores the growing mental pressure experienced by teenagers and young adults today: performance anxiety, social comparison, online influence, and the increasingly critical inner voice.
Four performers move through a landscape of thoughts, expectations, and self-images. Through movement, text, voice, and music, their inner dialogues become visible and audible. As the performance unfolds, critical and chaotic self-talk gradually transforms into harmony, and spoken voice evolves into singing.
TALK TO ME invites audiences to reflect on how we speak to ourselves — and whether we can learn to reshape that voice.
TALK TO ME is a co-production between Cecilia Moisio Company and Maas theater en dans, premiering in Fall 2027. The tour will continue throughout the Netherlands till the end of 2027.
About Cecilia Moisio Company
Cecilia Moisio Company is an independent Rotterdam-based company for contemporary dance and theatre. Led by Finnish artistic director Cecilia Moisio, the company creates visually powerful and emotionally charged work that moves between dance, theatre, documentary, performance and live music.
Moisio explores themes such as identity, gender, trauma, memory and vulnerability through what she describes as psychological activism: a combination of sharp social commentary, physical intensity and humor. Her interdisciplinary productions confront, invite awareness, and stimulate reflection and dialogue with raw honesty and strong visual impact.
The company creates work for young people and adults, reaching diverse and intergenerational audiences. Alongside productions, it initiates and facilitates artistic projects across theatre, dance and film, and organizes events, laboratories and research-based trajectories around its practice.
About Maas theater en dans
Maas theater and dance is the largest theater and dance production company for children, youth, and young adults in the Netherlands, and has its own theater in Delfshaven, Rotterdam. From their home base, they create physical work for a young audience in all possible forms and for all conceivable ages, often without language, and choosing personalities on stage instead of characters. These productions tour across Rotterdam, the country, and the world. Education and interaction are intertwined with every project, and talent is grown alongside.
Maas works towards an equal world and actively attempts to decolonize its practice and organization. That means questioning all boxes, whether they relate to our productions, our audiences or our own organizational culture.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from performers of diverse backgrounds, identities, and artistic practices. Professional experience in contemporary dance/performance is required, and additional experience in theatre, voice work, or music is considered a strong asset.
Audition Information
Audition days: June 24 & 25 (Callback)
Please make sure you are available on both days.
The audition will be held at Maas theater en dans, St. Jobsweg 3, Rotterdam.
Planning of the production
1st rehearsal period: 21 June till 16 July 2027.
2nd rehearsal period: 30 August till 14 October 2027.
Premiere: 15 October 2027
Tour; 15 October till December 2027.
We prioritize people living in the Netherlands. You will be in salaried employment for the entire period according to the Dutch labour laws. During the production and tour you are expected to have a residency in the Netherlands. The rehearsals will be located in Rotterdam.
