IN SHORT: The performance Emo explores the emotional world of women.
In a society where social codes often restrict women from openly expressing their emotions, choreographer Anne Suurendonk asks: what happens when we let go of those societal norms?

Two powerful dancers, Melisa Diktaş and Evelien Jansen, embody emotion in a duet that grates, trembles, and moves. Raw and explosive, yet also tender and vulnerable—every movement deeply felt. Driven by Suurendonk’s distinctive movement language full of bounces and grooves, and propelled by Tom van Wee’s exhilarating music, the audience becomes not just a spectator, but a fellow bearer of emotion. With EMO, Suurendonk invites you to feel it all: unashamed, unfiltered.

Last year, she won the Innovation Prize at the 2024 Nederlandse Dansdagen. This award gave her the opportunity to create EMO, premiering at this year’s edition. The jury praised her as a creator who moves with complete devotion and a unique movement language that resonates deeply.
