On Friday 25 September, Jackie takes over the Maaspodium. A Nigerian who grew up in Delfshaven, she saw up close how much connection matters, and how often it's missing. Especially for Afro-diasporic groups and bicultural Rotterdammers, who don't always recognise themselves in the mainstream cultural offer. So she creates for the people around her, and has done for some sixteen years, as a cultural curator and connector.
With Jackie's Hangout she invites you to a classic Rotterdam chilling: nothing's required, everything's allowed. What started small as an answer to loneliness in the city, an in-between space where you can simply be, has grown into a dynamic night where music, games and culture come together and meeting new people happens all on its own.
This FRESH brings that world to the Maaspodium: a night full of games, music and connection, where playing is the fastest way to turn a stranger into a familiar face. Sit down at a table full of strangers and see who they are by the end of the night. Come in, join in, and find out who you'll meet.

About Jackie’s Hangout
Jackie’s Hangout is a social initiative that uses sports, games and culture to create connections between young adults in the Randstad. The initiative was founded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of combating loneliness among young adults in Rotterdam and making it easier for people to meet new people. Through interactive and accessible events, Jackie’s Hangout provides a platform for encounters, with fun, community and representation at its core.

Jacqueline (Jackie) is the initiator and founder of Jackie’s Hangout. As a social and cultural entrepreneur, her mission is to create meaningful, accessible activities centred around representation, community, talent development, networking and showcasing role models. These values are reflected not only in the events themselves, but also in the team behind the initiative.
The Jackie’s Hangout crew consists of a diverse group of young, creative people from Rotterdam. Each member represents different neighbourhoods, perspectives and backgrounds, giving the team a rich variety of insights and experiences. This cultural diversity strengthens the connecting power of Jackie’s Hangout, enabling them to reach and bring together a wide range of communities in Rotterdam.
