IN SHORT: In That Which Is Immeasurable, an endless struggle unfolds, embodied by an untameable creature in a floral dress. Through the pounding rhythms of the Dahul and a body in constant survival mode, immortality is made tangible.
Accompanied by the Dahul. The drum that makes the ground move. Collectively pounding the ground, letting it be heard that it was there, is there and will always be there. Representing immortality. She who represents existence.
We celebrate, we fight, we allow ourselves to be carried away and held back. We rise up, we pass on, we are conscious, unconscious, while always facing and keeping danger in sight. The oppressed, wrapped in a body. What if you are exterminated, executed and oppressed every day? What does something that is always in survival mode look like?
Experience the power of survival and expression in "The Untamable Creature in a Flowered Dress" / "That which is untamable" by Melisa Diktaş. An immersive performance that embodies the essence of struggle, survival and resilience wrapped in the rhythms of Kurdish movement language.

About the maker
Melisa Diktaş is a dancer and mover of Kurdish/Indonesian descent, born in the Netherlands. She develops a narrative dance idiom rooted in govend (traditional Kurdish folk dance) and urban contemporary dance techniques.
She primarily works as a dancer in theaters for various productions, companies, choreographers, poets, and events. Since graduating nine years ago from the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts, she has continuously had the opportunity to explore and learn within the field, gaining a wide range of experiences. Her solo performances are based on her own movement style and on her beliefs, shaped by her perspective on the world.
Melisa is a maker whose point of departure is the power of origin. “Everything that moves, dances.” That which connects us, but also sets us apart. Her choreographic work has also been presented in Sweden, Norway, Turkey, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Under RIGHTABOUTNOW, she developed her performance Dat wat ontembaar is (That which is untamable). She presented her work-in-progress at the WIPCOOP Festival 2023 in Brussels and at the Dansdagen Haarlem 2024. She participated in Amsterdam Fringe 2024, where her performance won the Fringe at Best Awards 2024, and she also took part in the RIGHTABOUTNOW Festival 2024, performing her work at various venues across the country. In April 2025, she was awarded the BNG Dance Prize for Dat wat ontembaar is. The piece will tour together with Antibodies by Korzo maker Constantin Trommlitz as part of DansClick 27.
Melisa Diktaş is supported under the “Nieuwe Makersregeling” (New Makers Scheme), in collaboration with ICK, Cinedans, and RIGHTABOUTNOW INC.
