Hali Neto
Hali Neto (1991) is an Angolan/Dutch actor, mime artist, and theater maker.
He was born in Kuito, Angola, partly grew up in Portugal, and moved to the Netherlands at the age of eight. As a result, he was raised bilingual and was able to develop his love and talent for theater in the north of the Netherlands. Hali completed the MBO Theater Artist program in Leeuwarden and worked for several years as an actor at Tryater after participating in the talent development program Jong Tryater, before deciding to continue his studies.
In 2018, Hali graduated from the Mime Department at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, where he developed into a powerful creator, a strong physical performer, and an actor with a humorous touch and a great sense of timing. During his studies, he collaborated with Karina Holla, Malou Gorter, Giulio D’Anna, Judith Faas, and Moniek Merx, among others.
After graduating, Hali appeared in several productions by BonteHond, such as Broek uit and Schoppen, and created his own performance Fantastisch with the same company.
He also performed in Fabelkracht (Tryater), Dreef (Schweigman&), Muur (Floor van Leeuwen), Crispr (Theater Rotterdam), Schweinerei (Zuidelijk Toneel), De oerclub and The Great Escape (Golden Palace), as well as in the television series A’dam en E.V.A.
From his graduation duet Primordial, the mime collective VegeLijf emerged. VegeLijf creates and performs physical, powerful, and visually expressive theater pieces and has collaborated with Jakop Ahlbom and Boukje Schweigman as part of various talent development programs. The collective has since partnered with Ins Blau.
