WHAT THE DENIM BALL

Balls are festive gatherings where participants compete against each other in different performance categories on behalf of their house. A jury evaluates how participants present themselves within a specific category. These categories explore sexuality and gender, as well as the masculine and feminine expressions within them.

Voguing, an expressive art form rooted in ballroom culture, is attracting more and more young people — also outside the LGBTQIA+ community. The popular Netflix series Pose has sparked growing interest in Balls in the Netherlands and is highly recommended viewing for audiences beforehand. The series highlights the importance and necessity of Balls and voguing.

Balls are a safe space where participants and audience members observe each other with respect and without judgment. It is important for us to preserve this atmosphere so that everyone feels fully welcome and free to express themselves.

Guilliano Pinas - Legendary European King Father Typhoon Basquiat

Guilliano Pinas, also known as Father Typhoon Angels, is dedicated to creating safer spaces and empowering Black queer and trans communities around the world. His mission focuses on fostering safer spaces, empowerment, international impact, cultural preservation, and promoting awareness and acceptance.

In addition, Guilliano Pinas is known as the European King Father of the legendary Haus of Basquiat, the founder of the Kiki House of Angels, and as the teacher of the Vogue Fem Thursday classes at Maas. Please note that classes may occasionally be taught by a substitute teacher.
